Garda Elsherif is a researcher in the field of historical translation, specialising in the academic and philosophical spheres. Her research covers translation in the natural sciences during the early modern period, translation as infrastructure in the second half of the 20th century, and translation movements between the Arabic and European philosophical traditions. In Department 06, she works as a lecturer in Arabic and interpreting. Her doctoral thesis – published by Steiner under the title "Research and Translation: Translation in the (Early) Modern Scientific System, with the Example of France (1600–1815)" – was awarded the Research Promotion Prize by the Friends of the University of Mainz. She is a member of the Young Academy (2026–2030) of the Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz.
